Why solar in Alanya
Some of the best sunshine in Europe, right on your roof
Alanya enjoys around 300 sunny days a year, and a well-oriented solar panel here typically produces 1,500–1,600 kWh per installed kilowatt annually. That is considerably more than the same panel would generate in Germany, the UK or Scandinavia. Better still, your heaviest electricity use (air conditioning, pool pumps and hot water in summer) lines up almost perfectly with the months when your panels produce the most.
Many of our clients are international property owners who split their year between Alanya and home. We understand the questions that come with that: who handles the paperwork, how do I know the system is working while I am away, and what happens with the documents in Turkish? Our team explains every step in English, manages the local permits on your behalf and sets up monitoring you can check from anywhere.
- Free on-site survey and shade analysis
- Permits and grid application handled
- Tier-1 panels, smart inverters

Solar panels in Alanya, Turkey: why the numbers work
Alanya sits on one of the sunniest stretches of the Mediterranean coast. The Taurus Mountains shelter it from cold northern air and the sea keeps winters mild, so clear skies dominate most of the year. For a solar system, that means more kilowatt-hours from every panel. A typical villa installation here produces significantly more energy than an identical system in northern Europe, so you need fewer panels and a smaller budget to cover the same consumption.
The timing also works in your favour. Electricity demand in Alanya peaks between June and September, when air conditioning, pool filtration and holiday guests push consumption up. That is exactly when solar output is at its highest. Even in winter, production continues on most days thanks to the mild climate, covering everyday loads such as the fridge, lighting, hot water and heat pumps. Balanced year-round output means your investment keeps paying back month after month, not only in high season.
Solar for villas in Alanya: what international owners should know
Foreign property owners can install grid-connected solar in Turkey in much the same way as Turkish citizens. The application is made in the name of the person who holds the electricity subscription, so it helps if your subscription matches the owner on the title deed. Typical documents include the title deed, subscription details and your foreign identification number; in some cases a power of attorney is useful. We prepare the technical file and follow the process for you.
If you let your villa to holiday guests, solar can protect your rental margin by reducing one of your largest running costs. A hybrid system adds resilience during outages, keeping essentials working while guests are in residence. And because equipment is purchased once, the energy you produce is largely insulated from future tariff increases, which is a welcome form of stability if your income is in euros or pounds. Monitoring keeps you in control from wherever you are.
FAQ
Common questions about solar in Alanya
How much does a solar system for a villa in Alanya cost?
The cost depends on system size, roof type, equipment choice and whether you add batteries. Most villas need somewhere between 5 and 15 kWp. Because equipment prices and exchange rates change frequently, we do not publish fixed prices; after a free site survey we provide a detailed written quote with alternatives.
How long does it take for solar to pay for itself?
Thanks to Alanya's strong sunshine, grid-connected systems in homes with good daytime consumption typically pay back in roughly 4 to 8 years, and commercial systems often faster. Battery systems take longer. Your exact figure depends on your tariff and usage, and we calculate it from your own bills.
Can foreigners install solar panels on their property in Turkey?
Yes. If the title deed and electricity subscription are in your name, the process is broadly the same as for Turkish citizens. We handle the Turkish-language paperwork, explain each step in English and keep the number of times you need to be present in Alanya to a minimum.
Will my system keep working during a power cut?
A standard on-grid system shuts down automatically during a grid outage for safety reasons. If you want power during outages, you need a hybrid inverter with battery storage. We then connect your essential circuits, such as lighting, fridge, Wi-Fi and selected sockets, to a backup panel.
Can I monitor my system while I am abroad?
Yes. Every system we install includes an app that shows live production, daily and monthly totals and, where available, consumption and battery levels. You receive alerts if output drops unexpectedly, and with your permission our team can check the system remotely and arrange a visit.
What maintenance does a solar system need?
Very little. Cleaning the panels once or twice a year, especially near the sea where salt and dust build up, and a periodic check of connections and the inverter are usually enough. We can schedule annual maintenance visits to suit the months you spend away from Alanya.
